Ten plagues devastated the land of Egypt and affected the entire nation.  After the tenth plague and the death of all their first-born males, the Egyptians asked the children of Israel to leave the country to be free to worship God, the true God.  Not only did they ask them to leave, the Bible says the Egyptians were happy to see them leave!  They had become scared of the children of Israel (Exodus 11:8; 12:31-33; Psalms 105:38)

When we pray for the fear of the Lord to fall upon HIs enemies, our goal is that they repent and mend their ways.  We are not praying for their destruction but for their submission to the King of kings and Lord of lords.

Christ saw satan fall like lightning from heaven (Luke 10:19).  Our Savior promised us authority to cast out demons, heal the sick and do other miraculous signs (Mark 16:17-18).

I have sworn by my own name; I have spoken the truth, and I will never go back on my word: Every knee will bend to me, and every tongue will confess allegiance to me (Isaiah 45:23, NLT).

Jesus Christ, Maker and Owner of all the universe and all that is in it, great are Your works O God!  Your deeds manifest Your majesty and splendor.  You are merciful and compassionate.  Yet, You always defend Your honor and reputation.

I pray for those who are hostile and seek to demean the Almighty.  Raise a standard against them, O God.  We feel powerless to face this might army that attacks You and mocks Your holy name.  We do not know what to do, but we are looking to You for help (2 Chronicles 20:12).  We do not pray for their destruction, but we pray that You will honor Your name and bring repentance.

May the fear of the Lord fall upon them as it did with Pharaoh and his officials.  May they acknowledge Jesus Christ as their only Lord and King.  May they submit to Him and humble themselves under His mighty hand.  May Christ rule over His enemies (Psalms 110:2).

Who would not fear you, O King of the nations?  For this is Your due.  Among al the wise ones of the nations and in all their kingdoms there is none like You (Jeremiah 10:7).  Answer us, O LORD, answer us, so these people will know that You, O LORD, are the true God and change their minds to give their loyalty to You. (1 Kings 18:37).
